BOOK PROPOSAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Springer Publishing Company welcomes book proposals in all of our publishing areas. Proposals can be sent via email to the appropriate acquisitions editor. Please review the Editorial Contacts to determine who should receive your proposal.
Carefully read and answer the following Proposal Submission Guidelines. Email your responses to the relevant acquisitions editor:
- What is the tentative title of your book?
- Who will be the authors and/or editors? Please provide a current CV or Resume for each primary author/editor.
- Will some chapters be contributed by others? If yes, please list those whom you plan to invite: include name, credentials, and affiliation for each within the table of contents.
- Provide a description of the book's contents (3-4 paragraphs). Include what the book will contribute to the literature; its main themes and objectives; its distinctiveness in comparison to current competitor titles; and what pedagogical features it will include (e.g., if a textbook, will it include objectives, review questions, case studies, etc.).
- What are the Key Features of this Book? (Please provide a list of why people will buy this book in list format.)
- Who is your book's intended audience? (Please list specific education, specialty, or practice areas and/or professional associations, as appropriate.)
- If this is a textbook, please indicate whether it is intended for the undergraduate or graduate-level audience. Include a list of programs and course titles where the book should be considered for adoption. If enrollment numbers per program or course are available, please include them.
- Table of Contents. (Please provide an annotated list of sections and chapters, including authors per chapter, with degrees and affiliation for each.)
- How long will the manuscript be? (Please include an estimate of the number of manuscript pages, illustrations, and photographs.)
- What is your estimated completion date for the manuscript?
- Please list what you think are the Key Sales Features and Benefits. (List the kind of information that should be highlighted, for example, on the book's back cover as well in print and web advertisements for the book.)
- Professional Associations to consider for marketing
- Journals that should receive copies for book review purposes
- What books provide the most direct competition to your book? (Your list should include author's last name, title of book, publisher & year of publication, price, length in pages, any special features such as DVD, Instructor's Resource Guide. Please note how your book is different or better.)
