Success Story: Twins Pass FNP Exam
Jun 7, 2019
It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone takes exams differently. Nursing exams are created to test you to your limit and make sure you are prepared for the tasking, yet rewarding, career ahead of you.
Twins, Stephanie and Michelle, both wanted to advance their careers by taking the Family Nurse Practitioner exam and passed on their first try! Keep reading to learn more about each of their individual journeys, and the product (besides their brains), that helped twins pass the FNP exam!
I studied for almost 2 months to prepare for my AANP boards. Maria T. Codina Leik’s review book was my study “bible” as it contained almost everything I needed to study and learn. The contents were concise and well explained. The book is very easy to read. The questions in the end were very helpful, as well as the answers as the rationale were explained. It covered all the systems and even talked about professional issues. All I can say is that the book is simple, organized and very much straightforward with the information.
Aside from the clinical knowledge, it also gave many helpful tips regarding the exam and how to take it. It clearly explained the difference between the AANP and ANCC examinations, which helped me choose which exam to take. It briefly explained about the format of the exam, which helped me have an idea on what to expect during the day of the exam. My advice for other current students is to read and highlight the important information, go through over the test questions and their rationale. And then re-read the bullet points or summary in each of the systems just a week before your exam date so it stays pretty much fresh in your mind. Overall, this book is a great tool and will help you to be successful on your journey to becoming a nurse practitioner!
Whether you have enough months or even just a few weeks before your big exam, this book will definitely save your life! Leik definitely helped me pass my FNP board exam with only just 2 months of “serious” studying. I found this book very different from others because of how straight to the point it discusses each topic. It is also not very technical and complicated which makes it simple to study and comprehend. The author provides clinical pearls and exam tips that definitely help readers easily remember important points in answering questions. This review book provided practice questions to help prepare my brain how to tackle each question for the final exam. During the exam, I already knew what the answer would be to some of the questions even without looking at the options. To add, I think I may have seen a couple of questions from this review book that were exactly in the exam!
The book was very easy to read and understand that I was able to finish this book from cover to cover twice to be familiar with the important points and practice questions. Another advantage of this resource is that it is also available in a mobile app making it easily accessible wherever you go. I used it a couple of times especially during downtime at work. So whether you are the traditional or the modern savvy tech student, this resource is one of the best to have your hands on. My advice is to keep on practicing answering the questions and be familiar with the clinical pearls provided in this book because I found them very helpful during the exam. I highly recommend this to FNP students who will be taking their FNP certification exam soon. Good luck!
Twins pass FNP exam, so can you! With the right preparation materials and helpful study plan, passing the nursing family practitioner certification exam is within your reach.
