But which is the best choice for you? Here, we’ll take a deep dive into what it means to be a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator™.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator™: What Does It Mean?
Often known by its acronym, CHSE™, a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator™ or CHSE nurse, is a healthcare educator who is considered an expert in healthcare simulation, teaching all aspects of healthcare delivery to improve patient safety.
What Does a CHSE™ Do?
A CHSE™ must have mastery in the skill of developing scenarios that are appropriate for learners, administering them in supportive settings, and debriefing learners appropriately to foster an effective learning experience. The primary responsibilities of a CHSE™ have to do with education and teaching. They will provide simulations that hone individual and team skills and promote clinical reasoning, thus improving the competency of future healthcare providers.
How Do I Become a CHSE™?
To become a CHSE™, one must first have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ experience in a healthcare simulation setting. Once it’s determined that qualifications are met, an application can be submitted to take the exam through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) website.
