Feb 5, 2019
Get moving toward the next chapter in your career by taking the following steps to getting your Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE™) certification.
Make Sure You Qualify for Your Exam!
Do you have…
If you said yes to all four, you’re off to a great start!
Apply for Your Exam!
You can apply for your exam online at the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) website. You’ll need to create a profile to apply (if you don’t have one already). Note that you don’t have to be a member of the SSH to become certified.
It’s required that you enter the contact information of 3 professional references during your application, who will be emailed a link to the Confidential Structured Report of Performance (CSRP) form. The CSRP gathers information about your effectiveness as a healthcare simulation educator. Make sure you notify your references that you’re listing them beforehand!
Application Fees:
$395 (USD) for SSH, ASPE, and INACSL members
$495 (USD) for all others
Applications are accepted throughout the year.
Schedule Your Exam
Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an email from ISO-Quality Testing, Inc. (IQT) that will contain instructions on how to schedule your CHSE certification exam and how to set up your User ID and Password, which will allow you to register for or reschedule your exam, create your profile, and choose your exam location and date.
All exams must be taken at an approved IQT test site. You can see a current list of the testing sites here! You’ll have a 90-day window to schedule your exam after your application has been approved.
Start Studying (if you haven’t already!)
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to prepare—most people take at least 2 or 3 months to prepare, given the amount of content you need to know. You can start preparing by taking our free practice quiz here. And you’ll probably need a few exam preparation products to help you study in more depth. You can check out what we have here.
